Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Dental Services
At MGA Dental Clinic in Brisbane and Gold Coast, we’re proud to support veterans and their families by partnering with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to provide high-quality dental care. We understand the importance of maintaining good oral health and are committed to offering personalized care to those who have served our country.
Who is Eligible?
The DVA provides dental benefits to eligible veterans, war widows or widowers, and certain dependents. These benefits are available to eligible recipients across Australia.
Coverage depends on your specific DVA health card:
- Gold Card: Covers most dental services, including preventative care, general dentistry, and restorative treatments.
- White Card: Covers dental treatments that are directly related to an accepted service-related condition.

Dental Services We Provide
Our team at MGA Dental is experienced in providing a wide range of dental treatments under the DVA program, including:
- Routine check-ups and cleanings
- Fillings, crowns, and bridges
- Dentures and repairs
- Extractions
- Preventative and restorative care
How Does It Work?
If you hold a valid DVA health card, simply let us know when you book your appointment. Our team will handle the necessary paperwork and approvals to make your experience as smooth as possible.
There’s no out-of-pocket expense for most DVA-approved services, as they are billed directly to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. If any costs are not covered, we’ll discuss them with you upfront before proceeding.

Child Dental Benefits Schedule FAQs
Can I use the CDBS at any dental clinic?
The CDBS is only available at dental clinics that accept Medicare bulk billing for eligible services. At MGA Dental, we’re proud to offer CDBS services at our Surfers Paradise and Sunnybank Hills locations.
Do I need to use the full $1,052 in one visit?
No, the $1,052 benefit can be used over multiple visits within the two-year period. This allows flexibility to address your child’s dental needs as they arise.
Are there any out-of-pocket costs?
In most cases, there are no out-of-pocket costs for CDBS-covered services, as we bulk-bill Medicare directly. If a treatment falls outside the coverage or exceeds the available balance, we’ll let you know before proceeding.
How do I know if my child is eligible for CDBS?
We can check your child’s eligibility when you book an appointment. Alternatively, you can log into your MyGov account linked to Medicare to check eligibility details.
Do I need to provide any documents for CDBS services?
All you need to provide is your child’s valid Medicare card. Our team will handle the billing and paperwork for you.
Can siblings share the $1,052 benefit?
No, the benefit is allocated to each eligible child individually and cannot be shared or transferred between siblings.
Can the CDBS be used for emergency dental care?
Yes, the CDBS can be used for emergency dental treatments at MGA Dental Clinic as long as your child is eligible and the service is covered under the program. For example, toothaches, infections, or urgent extractions are typically covered.
What kinds of emergency treatments are covered?
Emergency treatments such as pain relief, tooth extractions, and repairs for chipped or damaged teeth are usually covered under the CDBS. Some specialized services – like orthodontics or cosmetic repairs – are not included under the CDBS. Our team will clearly explain what is and isn’t covered before starting treatment.
How do I book an emergency appointment under the CDBS?
Call our Surfers Paradise or Sunnybank Hills clinic, mention it’s an emergency, and we’ll prioritise your child’s care while confirming CDBS eligibility.
Can my child still get emergency care if they’re not eligible for the CDBS?
Absolutely! If your child isn’t eligible for the CDBS, we offer flexible payment options to ensure they receive the care they need promptly.
